Advocacy.
Shaping Systems, Centering Voices.
At RENNIE Org., advocacy means more than raising awareness — it means demanding better systems, amplifying lived experiences, and advancing policies that reduce the root causes of homelessness. We work at the intersection of community voices, research, and structural change to ensure that those most affected by homelessness are heard, protected, and prioritized.
What We Advocate For.
It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
-
Affordable and Equitable Access to Housing
Housing is not just a basic need — it’s a human right. We advocate for policies that expand access to deeply affordable, permanent housing options for all, especially for those most marginalized by race, gender identity, age, or disability. From rent control to zoning reform, we champion solutions that prioritize people over profit.
-
Healthcare as a Human Right
Homeless individuals are disproportionately impacted by chronic illness, mental health challenges, and lack of care. We push for accessible, trauma-informed healthcare services — and challenge policies that exclude people without insurance, ID, or stable housing.
-
Decriminalization of Homelessness
Fines, citations, and arrests for sleeping outside or occupying public space are not solutions — they are barriers. We oppose legislation that criminalizes survival and advocate for housing-first approaches that prioritize dignity and support.
-
Workforce Equity & Economic Mobility
Without stable housing or access to care, employment is often out of reach. We support policies that increase access to training, employment protections, basic resources for stability, and second-chance hiring for unhoused and formerly incarcerated individuals.
How We Do It.
✔️ Policy Research & Position Papers
We develop insight-driven resources that equip lawmakers, journalists, and community leaders with the information they need to make change.
✔️ Coalition Building
RENNIE Org. is part of a growing network of organizations advancing housing justice. We bring together nonprofits, public agencies, and advocates to amplify collective impact.
✔️ Grassroots Engagement
We train and mobilize people with lived experience to speak directly to decision-makers. Their voices are central to the policies we push forward.
✔️ Public Testimony & Media Campaigns
We show up where it counts — city councils, state legislatures, and press rooms — to ensure that homelessness is understood as a systemic issue, not a personal failing.
Together, we can challenge the systems that perpetuate homelessness — and build ones that protect everyone.
Lend Your Voice. We regularly organize sign-on letters, public comment drives, and grassroots actions.
